As you emerge through our walkways and visit our classrooms, the environment speaks loads of detail about its safety and care for the children. The Preschool proposes a full range of activities beyond the classroom.
It is a pleasure to welcome all parents, children, families and friends to the Preschool department of Brainy Bairn School. We strive for nothing less than assisting our young pupils to achieve their full potential with a foundation grounded in Christian principles and values. Through pastoral care equal to that of family and pure dedication, we provide an excellent and memorable start to the academic life of our young members where they are free to explore, learn and grow holistically.
The curriculum derived from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is broad and balanced, giving equal focus on assisting our pupils to develop academic skills that will prepare them for life itself. Enthusiastic and loving educators work diligently to support the learning of children through well planned, stimulating and exciting activities in a safe learning environment. We maintain their natural curiosity and introduce them to aspects of Christian living that will inspire in them, generosity, responsibility, care and be valuable young members of society.
We believe the success to your child's education requires a partnership between home and school. School Uniform
At Brainy Bairn School, we ensure that all our students are dressed appropriately in the prescribed school uniform.
Our Preschool School uniform consists of:
Regular Uniform
- White short sleeves shirt with school crest on the left breast pocket.
- Grey shorts.
- Grey skirt (skirt should be knee-length).
- School Tie.
- Plain black leather shoes with black soles and white plain/patterned socks.
Physical Education (PE) Uniform
- School-branded PE shirt with school crest.
- School-branded jogging shorts.
- Comfortable trainers or sneakers with socks.
Friday Wear
- Yellow or orange polo shirt with school crest.
- Plain denim (jeans) trousers (no tattered jeans, shorts or leggings allowed).
- Plain denim (jeans) skirt (skirt should be knee-length).
- Comfortable covered-toe sandals or trainers/sneakers with socks (no flip-flops allowed).
Preschool Curriculum
Our curriculum is a hybrid of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS) underpinned with the teaching philosophies of Dr. Maria Montessori.
There are three prime areas of learning in the EYFS curriculum namely Communication and Language; Personal, Social and Emotional Development; and Physical Development. Children exposed to these prime areas begin to develop quickly in response to relationships and experiences and this provides them with the needed support required in learning in all other areas.
In addition to these prime areas, the curriculum also specifically builds on Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts and Design as foundation subjects necessary for the development of the child before they transition to primary school. These specific areas of the curriculum include essential skills and knowledge which provide important contexts for learning.
At the Preschool level, the classroom is a “prepared environment” consciously designed to support the child’s developmental needs. Learning materials are child-centered and every child has the freedom of choice with some limits. Everything reflects a commitment to quality and to the children’s ability to doing things for themselves.
